74th Annual Sports Day

The grand finale of the year round sporting activities, the 74th Annual Sports Day commenced at 2:30 in the afternoon on 28th November 2015, with the welcoming of the chief guest, Major General Vinod Kumar, VSM, MG-ic-Adm, HQ SWC. He along with other esteemed guests of honour was garlanded by the students and given a bouquet of flowers as a token of official welcome. The event commenced with the Welcome Address by the Principal, Rev. Fr. John Ravi. Thereafter the Chief guest was introduced to all the House Captains, General Captain, Head boy and Head girl.

This was followed by the school cheer song by our school choir. After this the chief guest paid homage to the Martyred Xavierites and hoisted the school flag. He was escorted by eight guards of honour. This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony by our General captain, Kaustubh Jagawat. After the oath, the traditional Olympic torch epitomising the attributes of discipline , obedience and perseverance was transferred to the incoming General Captain- Pranjali Sehgal.

Even though the sky was clouded but the faces of the marching students glistened with enthusiasm and their personalities stood adamant exhibiting the discipline Xavierites are known for. Next was the much awaited march past in which all the four houses-reds, greens, blues and golds marched with full exuberance.The atmosphere turned ecstatic with the mesmerising drill performance by the junior school. It was followed by the enchanting dance performance by the middle school girls. The main event of the day was the performance by the Bagpipe Band. Next up was the spell-bounding karate performance by middle school boys.

And finally the most interesting and exciting part of the Sports Day began- the track events for both the junior and the senior school students. With each event passing by and points moving on, the enthusiasm and nervousness was clearly showing up on students and their house Captains, all sincerely longing for their respective house to grab the coveted MASUDA CUP.

The last event , the TUG O’ WAR amongst the Alumni and school students finally brought the event to a halt. As the trend so far has gone, it was won by the Alumini. kudos to them .

The Sports day event finally came to its last phase of giving out awards in various events .The MASUDA CUP was won by the Greens house. Overall parade was won by the Blues house.

Rev. Fr. Sangeet Raj delivered the vote of thanks. After the distribution of major awards and trophies, the spectacular event ended with the national anthem.
