Lights, camera, action !!
These words are enough to thrill an actor..

Theatre gives us a platform to express our feelings and views passionately. Theatre not only brings a smile on our face but also makes us aware of the current issues and problems prevailing in our society, and it’s a medium through which we can take a step ahead to eliminate the root cause problems.


The most exciting and thrilling event in Xavier’s is Inter House English Play Festival and this year it was conducted on 28th July 2016.

The judges for this competition were Ms Subrata Prashar , MA in English .She has worked with some of the prominent schools of Jaipur. She currently works as a freelance anchor in Door Darshan and AIR and is also features in short films. The second judge was Ms Kopal Batra, a 2010 pass-out of Xavier’s, is a very competent journalist with the English newspaper DNA. The third judge was Dr. Shweta .Though Doctor by profession ,she works as a professional storyteller and is the director of Booknook. She is also an active blogger.
The Master of Ceremony were Ishita Mathur, Karan Jhurani and Kumkum Agarwal.

The first house to show up was Blues house with their play ” Life-Pursuit of Happiness“. They threw a light upon the depression children face in their life. Some are depressed by their academic performance, some by their parents separation and some physically challenged people also lose┬átheir hope. This play was all about love, hope and care.
The second play was of Greens house titled ” Changed Mind Changed Life“. This play was about the 2 sides of every human being, the good and the evil. But for our greed we go with our evil side and ultimately our life becomes a disaster. The message conveyed through their play was that, no matter what, we should always go on the right path because that’s the path of success.
The third play was of Reds house titled “Shattered Dreams” which highlighted the problem of human trafficking and how it is growing at an alarming rate. They tried to portray a real life scenario inspired by one of the survivors of such victimisation.
The last but not the least was the golds house with their play “My Frozen Screams“which presented the everlasting problem of our society, the injustice and torture done to females. But they showcased that women are no less and they too can stand for their rights. The story was about a girl who was badly treated by some boys. At first she broke down but slowly she gathered courage and decided to stand up for her rights, and she along with her teacher and friends created a self help group to rescue all the women who are treated badly in this society.

All the 4 houses left no stone unturned in putting their best foot forward, but as the trend goes there has to be a winner.
And the winner of English Play Competition 2016 was Greens house. The second position is bagged by Reds house, the third position is secured by Blues House and the last position goes to Golds House.
